I would get all the kids in my class to fabric paint pictures of different things about South Africa that would be special to him, like the flag, table mountain, the big 5, the national symbols, coat of arms, the anthem written out, drawings of him, something to do with 1994, as well as any little messages that they had for him. I would then sew it all up into a quilt and give that to him.

I guess the most approriate response to a question like this would be to assess what you would give to a man that literally has it all - Over the last 50 years Madiba has gone from prisoner to president and from having literally nothing and now to having everthing.
What do you give someone who has it all, peace and quiet....

I would make a sculpture of him together with another sculpture of South Africa, and then give it to him as a birthday present. (what does a word sculpture mean anyway?
