Is that weird? I used to try and take my mind off it by eating pear drop sweets which taste a little bit like the smell of nail polish remover! ever had a weird craving?

I see my earlier question has triggered you into asking questions! When I was pregnant I had a thing about dry rice crispies, with mandarin orange segments (fresh) and all eaten from the box as my head told me the box made them taste better

You should have probably given your doc or nurse a call and let them know what was going on. When you crave things, especially non-food items, it usually means you are deficient in something and they would be able to tell you what to eat or give you a vitamin to take. There is a name for this and it's called Pica (sp?).

Pregnancy can do all kinds of things to people and everyone is different. I know I never liked cole slaw before and when I was pregnant, I began craving it all the time! Weird too.

I also had naturally curly hair and all of a sudden it went poker straight. With my second pregnancy, some of the curl came back, thank goodness.

Never be afraid to call your doc with any questions you may have no matter how stupid or weird you think it may be. That is what they are there for and believe me, they have heard just about everything! If you have a question, you deserve an answer.

Actually its not normal to crave things that are dangerous like this. You should look up some information on the condition "pica". It happens most often in pregnant women, but can happen in others. The most common cravings are dirt and gas. I believe it is related to an iron deficiency, but I'm not really sure. Since it seems that this is in your past I won't advise you to see your doctor about it but I just wanted to put that out there for the other women saying that this kind of craving is nothing to worry about. If you are pregnant and craving non-food items you should tell your doctor immediately.

This pregnancy is full of fun and new cravings/aversions for me! For one, the idea of cheese and buttered bread together is the most abhorrent thought to me right now. It is nearly barf-worthy. Cheese alone and buttered bread alone is just fine. Strangely, the thought of it together makes me want to chunder.

Last pregnancy, cold meat slices for sandwiches nearly had me hurling. Actually, nearly all meat for that matter put me off, with the exception of chicken. I went off my beloved spaghetti bolognese for the longest time, *sniff*. I had this craving for spring rolls, strawberries and mounds of ketchup (not altogether thankfully) and was sending the hubby down to the shop to fetch me some on a regular basis :)

No cravings this time around yet. Except for those Muller Fruit Corners. Oh man, I could eat a stack of those right now.

No but I did start to eat tomatoes and oranges for the first time in my life. I still like them 7 years later!

My only craving now is for Johnny Depp ;-)

I was in the market and there was a bottle of vinegar on the shelf. I had to have it. Stuck it in the biggy and downed it in the parking lot while hubby loaded the groceries.

A girl I work with scraped soap into her pen top and would eat it all day long.

I'm six months into my first pregnancy and totaly gutted as I've had no cravings let alone unusual ones. I've had to avoid lots of foods though due to sickness - simple things like dark meat and tomato based sauces.
