The Hedgehoppers Anonymous was the closest thing I could find.

"British folk-rock group (a.k.a. The Trendsetters) produced by Jonathan King. "It's Good News Week" (1966), a protest song, was the group's major hit; other charted songs include "Don't Push Me" (1966)."

Mick Tinsley - vocals
John Stewart - lead guitar
Alan Laud (or Ladd) - guitar
Ray Honeyball (or Honeybull) - bass guitar
Leslie Dash - drums

I can't ever remember hearing of that group, there was however a group "Hedgehoppers Anonymous" who had a hit with a song "Its Good News Week", perhaps it's this group you are thinking of?

"Its Good News Week,
Someones dropped a bomb somewhere,
polluting atmosphere everwhere.

Its Good News Week...."

(you get the idea)
