intel processors are the best when comes to multitasking. if u always load up more than one application at a time, like maybe u surf net, play songs, download stuff, watch movie all together, intel will be better. if u usually load one at a time, like if u plan to have a gaming machine, then amd is better. games u will only load one at a time, and amd is best if u just focus on one application. heat is not much a problem. but if u plan to get a hyper threading intel processor, it's better for u to get an after market heatsink and fan. try arctic cooling freezer series. economical and it really cools. other issues are quite minor.

The most imporant thing to keep on mind when deciding between the two, is HardWare COMPATIBILITY. As you all know some motherboards are designed for AMD, others for Intel. What is important is the performance when combining the CPU (processor) and and the motherboard. There are several well-known tests for HW, which you can also check prior to purchasing. Please, also check the CPU requirements for the other HW (eg. soundcard, TV card) you are planning to purchuse to build up your PC. The status quo is that AMD is nowadays generally better from many aspects compared to Intel.

If you want to have a more reliable processor, you'd better use Intel. But if you want a cheaper one, you can use AMD.

Dunno, never tried to put both in one system.
If you want a comparison, everyone will give you a different and often conflicting opinion.
Decide what your primary use for the system will be, then read up on articles on the web that compare the processors in that particular environment.
