Price.
It's just one of the two colors that is used in the rubber industry the most. When you buy a plunger you want a cheap one, you don't really worry, "Will this go with my decor?" The colors that are used the most are the ones that will be the cheapest for the company making the plungers.

Not sure, but if u notice alot of rubber things that are not painted are red or black, my guess is that it comes like that from the factory and the plunger companies dont wanna spend pointless money on paint for rubber
