What he must have done is denied you (your profile) the access to his profile and he must have granted himself administrative privileges...that way he can access all your documents and you just have the regular privileges.

To get around this problem, I assume ur home system is Windows XP, what you can do is go to Start Menu, Click Run command, enter compmgmt.msc (basically this will open Computer Management Console for you). In that window, under Computer Management (Local) go to Local Users & Groups, click on the Users folder, and see what privileges ur husband has and compare them to the ones you have been assigned.

Right-click ur User Name, and select Properties, under the 'Members of' tab (if its not there) add Administrators as your group. Then click Apply and close the windows. Restart your machine and then try accessing his docs.

Hope this helps..and good luck!

You can only access his documents if you have his password plus he may have set his documents to private. he must have something to hide. Why not just ask him. And put a password on your documents too. To do this go to control panel > users > change account details.

It may be because your husband is the registered user of your computer or your settings might have been changed to the one of a limited user. If you go to control panel and user accounts then it will tell you whether you are an administrator on your computer or a limited user.

You can gain access to the folder/files by doing this
1. right click at the folder/file
2. select properties
3. select security tab page
4. add your name/ change the access right of your account
note: remove all deny settings for your account. Deny is given precedence over allow settings

Make sure his folders are shared. Right click the folder and share. You can also delete or change accounts from the control panel as long as you keep 1 admin.

From explorer Tools>Folder Option>View then scroll last end and remove tick mark from 'Simple File Sharing'

Now right click your file (which you want to control or open)
click on Properties and click on 'Security Tab' >'Advance'>Owner> You can see your name there if this PC belongs to you, click on the name and tick on 'Replace Owner....'

Click apply and ok!

Have an argument about it.

Either stop peeping at his files, or at least stop him peeping at yours - obviously he knows how to do it or you wouldn't be locked out of part of the PC. Brings me back to the answer - have a argument !
