Floppy diskette drives do not work well for Windows XP. Keep trying other computers.
You might want to get a so-called thumb drive, or flash drive. They sell them at Staples. take a look:
http://www.newegg.com
type in keyword thumb drive
Good luck with the new technology. You will love it.

First of all who in the world is still using floppy disks? Go out for $15 and get a USB key and you won't have to worry about floppy disks and you can store a lot more than the old 1.44 MB!
If you have already formated the floppy on one PC and the other PC doesn't read it then either your floppy is going bad or the floppy disk on the other PC is going bad because its not reading the disk. Most floppy disks come pre-formatted so you shouldn't have to format it.
In all seriousness its the year 2006, stop using the floppy disks and move into the USB keys. Floppy disks are small, unreliable, fragile, etc. USB keys are reliable, cheap and hold a lot more data and are completely compatible from one machine to another!

Actually data in a floppy will be stored in tracks and sectors
after deleting the content in the floppy some times the data may not be copied properly so to over come the issue the floppies has to be formatted.

I dont understand the question.
The reason you need to format a floppy disk is to allocate space inside the disk so that you can add data into it.
Just go to START then RUN and type format a:
If that doesnt work, then start up in SAFE MODE in DOS PROMPT mode and then do it from the DOS command line.

m'mm..... Floppy is not responsible for that, yea floppy won't work in some computers annoying.... in this case it's innocence there's a hardware problem in that computer Where floppy is not loaded........ Floppy drive should be checked... it's easy but most of the Time Floppy Disk itself is cause, we can't trust them gets damaged easily..... better use Pen Drive - reliable but expensive.

sometimes it doesn't work because of some virus effects and because of some bad sectors in it we have to formate the floppy.
After formatting it it will work properly and all the sectors will be reset to its initial stage.
