Is that not the same as blaming the gun for the murder? Just because some crazed religion states you must kill all nonbelievers does not mean you must do it. It is the willingness of the people that go along with it and not find a better way that is the root of it all. Many religions have in them a love for all man and rules that stop even forbid killing you fellow man. So it comes down to the man with the gun in his hand. He points it and fires it.
Man and his hate and greed. That is the problem not some book that was written is the late 5th century

People need religion or at least a code that tells them what is right and what is wrong. There nothing wrong with any customs, and or traditions, religions in this world, not even christianity. The problem is that people percieve that what they were raised to think is the only way. When they come into contact with others who believe differently their whole world collapses around them and they act out violently to protect their bubble of safety and 'truth'. Yes most dumb people need religion, but most smart people don't.

I dont think its religion thats the main cause of conflicts...its ppls prejudce and wrong judgement that is the main cause of conflicts. Through all of history ppl started wars just becuase ppl were different...color, religion, beliefs, traditions...etc and we cant blame it on the subject its the ppl. religion is such an important aspect in an idividual, cuz it affects everything in them...and ok there are many different religions but its all to one god... its the ppl and their judgements and greed wen it comes to war.. like israel, and iraq and lebanon its not about religion its about power and authority and money...dont blame it on religion

Religion has been the cattalyst for wars throughout the history of man. Today's version is no different. Faith is a far stronger motivator than even nationalism... so conflict is inevitable.

I think Newt pegged it-we need to just go on and declare war on militant Islam, because that's what we are fighting. These are people who demand that everyone convert or die. If you must call it a Holy War, then so be it, but in the end, their goal is to kill freedom, which is what we stand for. The majority of wars in the world today involve islamic fanatics. They need to be irradicated.

Religion has outlived it's usefulness. The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved
to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first sign a species is achieving sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods

I don't think religion is the cause of conflicts. It's human beings. People don't need any religion. We need God.

Yes, religion can be bad. It was the religious pharisees that had Jesus killed. Follow Jesus, not religion. It's the radical islamic jihadists that are causing the most problems currently.
