We need more information, do you have an unlimited budget? Are you looking for gaming too? Is this a desktop replacement? Would you be willing to considering something luggable rather than portable? (20 lbs or so)

"Best" is always a matter of opinion.
I mean you can get a laptop with a 21" screen, but of course that becomes heavy to carry, and is also quite expensive.
You have to look at your budget, and then compare systems.
You may want to go witha good set of headphones for instance rather than the built in speakers.
Most of all, go ou and test out the units. Listen to them. See if the vidoe is jerky when running videos etc. etc.

I prefer Toshiba Qosmio. It's equipped with Harman/Kardon speakers, wide screen and AGP 8X

I have a Gateway, it is pretty good. I would say Sony would be the best probably.
