Nope... They're not the same. :D The first stands for kilobit, while the second for kilobyte ( 1byte = 8 bits ).

They r different. A single 0 or 1 is a bit. 8 bit = 1 byte.

Kb means kilo bit (1000 bit, not 1024).
KB means Kilo byte (1024 byte, not 1000).

1024 byte=1KB
1024KB=1MB and so on

1000 bit =1Kb
1000Kb=1Mb

small b is in use to present the speed in communication. Like Mbps or Kbps LAN or modem speed.

Big B is used in storage related terms. Like 10GB Harddisk drive. 700 MB CD-R etc.

well there is a diffrance between somethign more like MB and Mb the "B" reprsents bytes and the "b" bits. 8 bits =1 Byte most of the time your talking about bytes anyhow (Hard drives, and RAM) but internet connections are measured in bits say a T1 line 1.544Mbps
when your downloading songs at 4KBPS (in the days of dial up) or say 70-500KBytesPS

Both terms are similar, and they refer to kilobytes. People have different preferences on whether they like lower cases or upper cases.
