I have a '91 honda accord, it needs a (so they tell me) 12 a/c something. It starts getting cooler when I drive it about 45 min after.

Recharge the coolant.

The refrigerant in the system is probably R-12 freon and its lack of cooling is probably a low freon condition.
Freon is the heat exchanger used to remove moisture from the air. When the moisture is removed so is the heat and whats left over is cold air.
R-12 is extremely expensive because it is no longer the industry standard, R-134A is the current standard. Although considerably cheaper, it will require a conversion of the system. I would expect that to find any leaks & converet the system you going to spend 3 to 5 hundred dollars, depending on where your located.

Take your Honda somewhere and have it checked for leaks. Over time your hoses and O-rings wear out and they start leaking freon. Just take it somewhere and have it checked out soon before all your freon leaks out because it can get expensive.

You want to have your hoses checked,also to check the internal system to see if it needs to be overhauled.91 is a lot of years;Your hoses might have rot.

go to your parts store and get a can of recharge as well as a gage....follow the directions exactly or you could get hurt the gage will help you know when its full and the parts store cans help you get the right one.....after a simple recharge it should freeze you out
