Being 21 and having abnormal menustral periods concerns in wondering if I will have problems having children. I started my period at 13 years old but from the beginning I have had 6 months in between having my other period. This year only I have had only one period and have seen a gyn. and everything seems okey. Just waiting for the thryoid test. Please tell me if I should really be concerned as I am wishing to get married in the near future and don't know if to discuss my matter with my future husband.

I don't think it should. MY cousin was irregular and she was able to have a baby with out any trouble. But if your that concerned about it why not ask a doctor. I mean what could it hurt.

It will be hard for you to have children. Amenorrhea means you don't have a period much at all... you have to ovulate to get pregnant. And if this only happens for you twice a year, you have only 2 chances per year to get pregnant. If you period stops all together, you won't be able to get pregnant.

I know of 2 main reasons women get amenorrhea - low weight, and excessive exercise. Some of the women on my HS cross country team never had their period. And a very good friend who struggled with low weight lost hers as well. You need to change what is causing ammenorrhea to be successful at getting pregnant. My underweight friend went on a special weight gaining diet put together by her doctor so that she could get pregnant (she is now a happy mommy) and girls who have it due to excessive exercise need to cut back a bit on their work outs (which is usually a natural progression when you finish college and start a career, you don't have the time to work out that much)

If you have amenorrhea, then you have a fertility problem because you ovulate and then comes the period. Talk to your fiance about this. If he is OK with this, he is worth getting married to.

without a period, you will also not ovulate. Your doctor can help you figure out what you are not getting it..and help you :)
