If this divorce that is happening was caused because you were sleeping with and now living with her husband, then yes you can be sued. Not for alimony per se, but yours and his yearly salary / wages are put together if any children came out of the marraige.

How do I know this? Cause I was the wife who was cheated on and when it came to child support, I was able to go through the courts and come up with a higher amount than usual because my ex-husband and his "other" woman were now living together, meaning the courts took both their taxes at the end of the last year and added them together (of course they had also been living together behind my back for over a year by then too - and I had proof of that after the fact). When they broke up, my payments were lowered.

Therefore, beware. It can happen.

Am I proud of the way I handled things - NO, I'm not. Would I do it again? In a heart beat. lol. It was great payback for ruining my marraige.

But if you are having an affair AFTER he left the marraige, then you have no problems. If you were the cause of the marraige breakdown, then I'd be ashamed. I am living with someone who is still married, but I met him 4 years after his separation therefore she can't touch my money.

Let's hope that your next reply is that you were not the cause, or you could be in a heap of trouble unless you see a lawyer now and protect yourself.

It's possible. She could sue on the grounds of "alienation of affection" but she would have to prove that the marriage was great and happy and there were no problems before you came along. Kind of hard to do. You should check the laws in your state because some states don't carry this law. Besides, I don't think it would be worth it for her because she would have to hire a lawyer and there would be court costs. Your man should be more worried about her using his adultery against him in court and cleaning him out.

The truth is you more than likely won't be sued, but in this day in age you can sue someone for virtually anything! Right down to your dog inpregnating another dog!
It is unlikely that you will get sued in the process. The divorce is between him and her, not you.
But my goodness, SHAME ON YOU! I don't understand why people get involved with people that are attached, wouldn't that make them think "hey this can happen to me too"?

Actuuuaaaalllly,in some states you can be sued by the ex.I can't recall the legal term but it has something to do with "loss of affection".You should search it on YAHOO!.People have been awarded money because of this. There was a big case in the last few years.Look up "alienation of affection".Whether it would happen to you personally-who knows but can't you find someone who is single with no baggage?

No, you won't get sued for that. Do not worry. The wife can't do anything to you but she will takes personal revenge on you by disturbing and giving you uneasy life. However, if her broken marriage is nothing to do with you, just carry on your life and be stronger. Do not fear to anyone coz you did nothing wrong.

Once your man is legally divorced, you may openly carry on your relationship without feeling uneasy.

Yes you can. There is already precedent. Whether she wins or not is a different story. The lady in the link I attached received 2 million.

she could have a restraining order put on you if she can show you as a threat.

I would reconsider in the future, having affairs with married men and you won't have to worry about stuff like this.

Nopes...no laws against having an affair...however, if can be proven that u have caused material damage to her in any other way, there is a possibility..though it's remote..
