There's no such thing as a dumb or foolish question! You should ask whatever you need to know that's how you find out about things and learn. What's easy for you might be very difficult for others and vice versa. The important thing is to not let others bring you down. Sometimes people say things to make us feel bad because that's their way of feeling better about their pathetic selves by bringing others down, for whatever reason jealousy, or their own low self esteem. Its just best to laugh at them and focus on your own goals. Succeeding is the best revenge.

I would say that the dumb questions are the ones that dumb people ask. Like:
1. Why is the sky blue?
2. Did Mary have sex with god to have Jesus?
3. Is the holocaust really a hoax?
4. Did the US really land on the Moon?
5. If you are travelling at the speed of light and turn on your headlights, will you see anything.
These, to me, are stupid questions. Difficulty has nothing to do with making a question stupid. If you really want to know something the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

A dumb question is simply one that has a easy answer.
A good question is when it not easy to answer and a lot of thought will have to go into the answer, not research, but thought.
So.....ask that easy, but indeed difficult question and expect an answer that will make your question look dumb.

"Dumb" is in the eye of the beholder.
And some of us should be wearing glasses.
