To a certain extent, I think the answer to this question depends on your theory standpoint....evolutionary psychology pretty much sees every action as rooted in survival...even altruism has the purpose of group survival. If you follow a more social constructionist perspective (which does not necessarily concur that all behaviour performed by humans has a evolutionary/survival basis) it allows for behaviours to not just be about survival, but rather how we construct the needs of that behaviour. So, sex doesn't just have to be about procreation, and love isn't just about chemical reactions that encourage child rearing. I personally follow a more social constructionist viewpoint as I dont think all human behaviour can be reduced to animalistic needs and survival of the stronger gene.

The action of your asking this question and the impetus for it, are definitely not rooted in your survival. Again, you need more of a social life.
