Not too much...

You already have plenty of RAM (but could always use more!)

If it is still slow at those specs, it might be a Celeron or Sempron processor... Those have smaller caches and will run way slower than their full-cache counterparts.

So, all you are left with is maxing out the RAM to whatever your motherboard can take and make sure you have no viruses or spyware on the box...

Next step... a faster laptop!

1. Put in as much RAM as you computer (and your budget) can support.
2. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmentation (start > all programs > accessories > system tools).
3. Delete cookies, files and history and clear forms (start > control panel > internet options > general tab to clean cookies, files and history, content tab > autocomplete > clear forms).
4. I've been using a free registry cleaner called CCleaner for about a year. It's easy, safe and helps clear out registry clutter. You can get it at www.ccleaner.com and I highly recommend it.

This should help smooth things out and speed things up. Be aware that deleting old files could take a while so be patient. The defrag could take a few hours depending how long it's been since it was last done.

since you have plenty of feedback, might i add trying a clean format than install of your OS. Most time consuming but its probably time for a clean install of windows. Make sure to backup all your important files.

Also like some have stated adding more ram will help w/ the long load times if that is your problem.

The following made a huge difference to my laptop, it might help you too.

Take all the visual performace things off - it will look like windows 98 put you will notice the difference; and it is cheaper than installing more RAM.

Right click on MY COMPUTER then click on PROPERTIES then click on the ADVANCED tab. click on SETTINGS button and select the option for BEST PERFORMANCE. click on OK.

Windows will look different - but will work much faster!

You can defrag it. You can delete files you don't need. Delete your cookies. I recommend downloading EasyCleaner. I forgot the website though. Just do a google search or yahoo search.
