now you have ask a great question here love.... The myths and legends about Faeries are many and diverse, and often contradictory. Only one thing is certain-that nothing is certain. All things are possible in the land of Faerie. The mystery of Faerie has been, from the earliest times, a subject of human speculation. What are faeries Where did they come from The words fey and faerie come from the French and started to replace the Old English Elf during the Tudor period. Spenser and Shakespeare popularised the change. Elf land and Faerie land Elf and Faerie were and still are interchangeable words. The spellings of faerie are numerous: fairy...faerie...faery

I knew a man who saw faeries in Ireland (what americans would call leprechauns ). He was a perfectly ordinarly person, with no reason to make the story up. He suddenly became very depressed and his family persuaded him to tell them what had caused it. He confessed that he had seen three very small men marching accross his field in an untidy fashion. They were wearing strange old fashioned clothes and when they noticed him they vanished. He didnt want to tell anyone because he thought they would laugh at him. When the story got out EVERYONE laughed at him but he never denied the story. That makes me think there must be something in it. Personally i believe in nature spirits that might have the ability to show themselves in various ways. Faeries being just one of many forms.

A fairy, or faery, is a creature from stories and mythology, often portrayed in art and literature as a minuscule humanoid with insect-like wings. This word is derived from the name of a place where they were said to live: Faerie, and fairies are sometimes called fairy-folk. The myth appears commonplace across many diverse cultures and traditions. They have many names and many forms.

When I was visiting Chicago, I went to Boys Town and there were Faeries all over the place. They were swarming on the sidewalk, trying on dresses in boutiques, walking dogs. I had never seen so many faeries.

That's a hard question to asnwer because i personally don't believe in them if ... (I live in Ireland) I do as my neighbours do ... Throw a few coins (Copper) at the bottom of the garden so they'll leave us alone! Now this is going to sound like a mixed up answer but then here goes. I don't believe in fairies because i've never seen one all the same ... And just in case i leave some coins for them if!!! I've never seen a leprechaun and/or Nessie either but i do believe in them! I really do and i couldn't tell you why that is. I mean why not the fairies as well hey! I really can't explain why either!

I know a lady who would swear on her life that faeries are real. She says thta fairies live in her backyard and she leaves them food and gifts. They leave her gifts in return. She is not crazy on any level and she has a lot of money that she made herself. I trust her with my life. So i believe they are real too.

The fact that stories from different cultures have references to the fey does support the theory that they exist. Who is to say that when a person sees one their mind is in such disbelief that they trick their own mind into saying it was a small bird or just an insect.

I would say yes. If you are interested in faery lore, you would do well to research the jinn of the Islamic faith. Quite similar.

Fairies (that's how it is spelled) are merely imagined mythical creatures like the dragon, the phoenix and others. The imagination that created them is at least 1500 years old if not more, it is not our contemporary imagination.
