Southend is closer to London , but Brighton is much better.

Regarding some answers above : Birmingham is not a beach town and Thames is not a sea , so it cant have beaches

Hi, the nearest beaches to London are in Southend on Sea in Essex.

Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire, just outside Slough.

Failing that go to Brighton, easy on the Thameslink

Sheernes on the ilse of sheppey is about 45 minutes drive down the A2 M2 .

Brighton is quite close, I would say the best close beach is West Wittering!

BRIGHTON its also the easiest and cheapest way to get there via london on train.
