I moved to the USA to escape reality, but I have only found myself getting stupider. Booze is great, but I hate the hangovers. Other than smoking Crack or being 'Saved' I have just about run out of options. What is it about reality that most people find so satisfying? Is it truly overated or is everyone else doing their best to Ignore it just like me?

Reality is not overated, it is underappreciated. Reality demands our attention, respect and compliance. Once reality is given its due we are rewarded by the benefits our knowledge and understanding of it provide.

Reality is an inescapable fact (the USA being no exception). The desire to escape it makes one a prisoner of it but by learning to comform to its unyielding demands we are liberated by it and presented with options we would otherwise be oblivious to. The power of choice is a resource only humans have the potential to enjoy. Accept the challenge of your humanity and enjoy the freedom that is a rare commodity in the vastness of the universe in which you exist.

Some people can be a pain in the *** if you allow them to or compromise your ability to avoid, ignore or refute them. Nevertheless the universe is a wonderous and beautiful place. Take another look from a new perspective. You just might be amazed at what you are able to find out there in reality land.

Your 'reality' is someone else's nightmare, and vice versa: your nightmares are also someone else's reality. Without the unicorns, goblins, monsters and all other supernatural things you may dream about.
What I'm trying to say is, you make your own reality. If you don't like the way things are going for you now, and a numbed mind from booze, or a nice 6 hour trip, still brings you back to your depressing reality- well you gotta move on. Getting high every night will only get you more depressed, and not to mention the cost it involves.
So, no, don't ignore your reality- embrace it- do something to change your reality- start a movement, get involved, make a change- without harming yourself nor others. Reading or studying is a great way to see your reality differently- you get a different perspective on life- or you could argue the current trends in mass followings to recruit a few more free-thinkers so we can finally rid the world of the money-hungry, power-abusing people of the world: Bush, religion, media mougels, or whoever you think is doing the most harm to the world you live in, and one day, the world you will sadly leave to your children, who, as history has shown us, will have it worse than what you got.
Me, personally, will never give up fighting the unjust of my world, even if I have to 'play the game' a little while until I get my foot in the door.
Create your passion- find your strength, and write your goals- big or small- and whatever you do, don't let yourself be brainwashed into competing in the ever-losing RAT RACE- because then you'll become the person you now despise!

After many years beating my head against the wall... I have come to the realization that basically there are no accidents.

By this I mean every little thing that happens to me throughout the day has an origin in something I set into motion along the way. Things that go wrong and things that go right for me are all essentially due to something I started.

When you look at life this way reality starts to take on an exciting aura - like what next? I can't wait to see!

And then you start to take the next step. For some other reason left to the world's greatest philosophers, I've also come to realize the Universe (or God) is wired to human behavior. That is what I "Do" affects the quality and quantity of stuff that happens for me...

And that quality and quantity is directly proportional to two things: intention and action. If you really and truly set yourself up on goal and work your a s s off relentlessly it is like pushing a railroad car down a hill - you won't see any action at first but that continuous effort starts the thing rolling...

Life: excitement and opportunity at your disposal - plus, you get to choose to make it happen FOR you or TO you.

Try it - you may like it... or not.

What do you mean by reality i dont understand & to find out that u moved to US still cant get it...Are you speaking about Reality in a real in a metaphysical sense ,in a broader perspective?

If its like that then you must understand that reality is the term that have been troubling both the philosophers and the common people from time immemorial and till today no answere to offer.

I believe in this life, in this world, nobody lives in reality. What we see and hear is not just what we hear and see. There are something beyond all these. For example ,you have both, a body and a soul. Body is just like a dress isnt it? it will get decayed and rott away one day but the soul lasts forever to eternity. so comparing the body and soul , the soul is the reality right? And we often believe strongly the body which we can feel and see is the reality, the real thing.

Everything in this world is full of unrealities if we see things in this way , i think. the people you see around, the trees and flowers animals and all that we see is unreal. All have a being that is beyond them. So isnt our search for reality is vain? Will we ever succeed in search for it? i dont think so..

what we can do is to be just happy, just the way we are with the things around us thinking that it is the reality.

But one thing is there. We cant be happy by indulging ourselves in sins. Its is unreal plus deceitful too. We think we can be happy with these. But the decietful accept of its reality is that it would only last for a moment, or as you say, its like the hangovers you get after you have drank your fill. so isnt it better to avoid doing sins so that greater problems wont be created?

So the next option is doing good. And i think the effect of it could last a pretty long while. So life long keep on doing good , & i think we can find pretty good amount of happiness that we need to survive.

There are suffering people around us. People who dont even have even a complete meal for themselves to afford. I know from what i have said , their suffering too is unreal. But isnt it worth while to atleast create a temporary reality out of their unreal situation? i personally believe so..

solving your problems and living a good life in reality is better. we all have to face it...if not now, sooner or later you'll have to face it. learn to separate reality from fantasy. and for me, it's not overrated.
