depends on how close it is and the wireless router if its close and/or its a decent router than no u will not experience any difficluty and the bright side is if u ever get a laptop then ur all ready u just need a ethernet card (witch most newer laptops already have them built in)

I recently upgraded to wireless from ethernet. I first purchased a cheap wireless router and wished I had'nt. The connection for my Pc was just as fast as ethernet but I was only 10ft from the router. My son's Pc was 2 rooms away and we found while playing online games he was regularly disconnected. The poorer the connection the slower the data transfer.
I have since bought a better quality router and my sons wireless connection is now just as fast as it was with ethernet. Make sure you purchase 802.11b cards or adaptors though. Technically there is a difference between ethernet and wireless but as far as online connections are concerned you wont really see any difference.

My strong advice is that if you want to go wireless then buy the best quality kit you can afford.

Depends what you're downloading but for general Email and MS office stuff you wont. Ethernet runs at 10/100 MB depending on your card and how the port on the Hub is configured normally they are auto 10/100. Wireless can run upto 11MB . The main thing you should be aware of with wireless is someone next door can also logon if they have a wireless connection and dont do banking stuff over the wireless.
Be careful.

i run a wired and wireless network. my pc has a 54g WLAN card and an ethernet port. i dont use my PC on wireless anymore, mainly down the fact that other users dont know how to login 2 the wireless LMAO!

with ethernet you just login to the computer and you're already connected.

that is the only difference i have noticed.

i have a centrino laptop which is 54g and there is little difference between wireless and ethernet.

the only thing is when i print to the network laser from my wired pc it starts almost instantly, whereas it takes about 5 seconds from the laptop, but both are outstanding quality and speed!

It depends on your wirless adapter card. If you have a 802.11b card, you'll get 11Mbps speed theoritically and 3 to 6 Mbps practically. You'll get 70 to 80 Mbps speed in a 100Mbps wired LAN card. 6 to 7 Mpbs in a 10Mbps wired LAN card.

You can run a VCD in a normal wireless LAN but not the DVD. Not possible to run DVD in a 10Mbps LAN also. You can easily run a DVD from a remote computer if u use a 100Mbps LAN.

etehernet runs at 100mb/s as where as wireless works at a max of about 75mb/s.
ethernet can also run upto 1000mb/s if you upgrade your cards on both
