I will be taking a 9 hr road trip through a mostly desolete area and would like to know about where the resturants, gas stations, & restrooms are located. I've seen one that shows rest areas, but that was all.

I have never used it for the purpose you describe but I think it is capable of it. I have used it for routing a delivery person within a metropolitan area and I was very impressed with its capability. The "it" I have referred to is "Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006". It is inexpensive (about $40 before any refunds or rebates) and available at software stores everywhere (and maybe on-line).
