I had sex during ovulation and had period like cramping since now 12dpo and 6 day before my period is due, negative preganancy test. I know people say don't stress and going to the doctor at this stage is a waste of nhs money in my opinion. Did anyone else have any feeling like menstral cramping before finding out they were pregant? I help to know because if Im not suppose to drink or take certain medication whether herbal or not, it's better to know sooner.

i didn't just have the cramping, I had what I thought to be my normal PMS symptoms. I didn't realise it had been going on longer than normal!
But since you haven't gone past your period date, you need to wait and see what happens.

First of all, if you're not sure, then *don't*. It's safer.

But there are a few problems in what you wrote. You can't be 12 dpo and 6 days before your period. You can't ovulate as long as 18 days before your period. So either you ovulated later than you think or your period is due sooner. If you ovulated later, you just have to wait (it's probably still too early to get a reliable pregnancy test). If your period is due earlier, then go to your midwife or doctor and get a blood test; it should be accurate by now.

And, finally, even if you are pregnant...if the fertilized egg hasn't yet implanted (which is what a negative pregnancy test really means), then drinking or taking a drug with a relatively short half-life *can't* harm the pregnancy. Before implantation, the zygote isn't attached to the mother's body in any way, so what flows through her blood won't affect the pregnancy. This is *not* to say that you should take any drugs when you don't yet know you're pregnant--only to point out that if by *accident* you are exposed to something, it's unlikely to harm your baby.

I had cramping when I was pregnant with my son, but not this time. You probably tested a little early, which may be why the test was negative. I would take it easy in the meantime and re-test in another week. I used the Clearblue digital test five days after my period was due, and it came back positive. You can also ask your doctor for a blood test, which usually shows a positive sooner than a urine test.

i had that cramping pain all the time with my 2 kids, it's called "implantation pain". it's usually nothing 2 worry about and there's no need 2 c a doc. i'm sure a pregnancy test will be positive if u leave it a while longer. i've got a 2yr old & a 6month old, with the youngest a test didnt show positive until over a week after my period was due. good luck, hope all goes well.

This could be implantation pains. This is what happens when a fertilised egg attaches itself to the womb lining, and it usually occurs about 2 weeks after ovulation... so at 12 days dpo this is not impossible.

Also... you will not get a positive pregnancy test until AFTER this implantation has happened so this would make sense.

If you are trying to conceive anyway I would say lay off the medication and cut back on the alcohol as much as you can... also take a folic acid supplement.

Fingers crossed for you.

different people have different reaction to pregnancy... sometimes you know before your period is due... I felt symptoms about less than a week before my period...but test showed negative... even 10 days after my period was due i could not see any mark on the test ... as it was very faded and faint...

Just take care.. no loss anyway...
