Do people who are homosexual actually want to be attracted to the same sex as they are?
I was criticized by one of my ex friends about not having any respect for homosexuals.
I would like to know, if they had the chance to be, would they stop being the way they are?
And do they think what they are doing is wrong?

Do you want to be the way you are? why not change to see what the other side is like.

Now how did that feel? Did you like the idea of being on the other team. If not, how do you think this question felt to those of us who are quite happy to be who we are, thank you very much. There is nothing wrong with being who you are so, NO we are doing nothing wrong. We live our lives in great contentment, well... at least until some people decide that they're unhappy in their own lives so they do everything they can to harm us. You see, I have come to realize, people who attack us do so, not because of the Bible or Nature, but just because they feel powerless in their own lives. They need to blame someone, it used to be the blacks but now it gays. Later it may be someone else. At the end of the day, it comes down to this question to all Heterosexuals:

"Why do you care where I put my C**K?"

When that one can be answered, you'll have your answer.

Finally, your friend says you have no respect for homosexuals, they could be right but it could also be you are just not familiar enough with the concept of mutual respect, most people are surprising lacking in the concept. Respect is not bestowed, it is earned. Some gay people do not have my respect even though I am gay simply because they show none. It's a two way street.

People are born the way they are born. If there were a pill that could make gay people straight - many of us would take it. We can't help it. We are the way we are. Therapists and quack Doctors can't make anyone straight.

Why would anyone choose to be gay in a society that condems homosexuality?

Why is it that so many teens commit suicide when they begin to discover they are gay and can't handle it?

We don't expect you to genuflect to us, give us special treatment or even understand why we are attracted to what we are attracted to. You were not born with an instructional manual and neither were we. Just don't condem us and act like we are from a different planet. Treat us like any other person.

I think as teenagers, most of us would have "changed" to being straight. It is not easy for anybody.

Teenagers will always find something they hate about themselves... regardless of sexual orientation.

As adults, I think MOST gay people find a place of acceptance, and once their adult life is underway, have less problem with it. I would bet that by the age of 30 you wouldn't find even one percent of gay people would want to change.

It's kinda like having a birth mark... many people have a birth mark that they feel is ugly and would rather not have it... by the time they are grown, they have accepted that it is there and find that life is about more than the birth mark.

As for the question of wrong or right...

IF YOU BELIEVE HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG...

DON'T ENGAGE IN HOMOSEXUAL BEHAVIOR!

Leave the rest of us alone.

There are numerous studies that have been done in order to link homosexuality to genetics. I am gay, and I know that I did not have a choice in that. The only choice that I DID have was choosing to accept my sexuality and not hide it nor be ashamed of it. Society has a set of socially contructed rules, and for some being gay is wrong. If the person who is gay, and ashamed of it, they will view their same-sex desires as wrong.

I think gay people do like being the way they are because if they really hated being gay they would probably not have sex and be celebant and be pissed off all the time...or really try to be straight but gay people actually want to be gay...and it is nothing wrong with that...

1) I would never want to be straight. I love being bi. If someone gave me a chance to change, I would never take it. No matter how much flack I have to take for being queer, its a lot of fun and I love it. I even asked a kinda similar question a while back that brought out some interesting answers:

2) I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. My definition of wrong is hurting others, and since I'm not doing that, I feel 100% morally good about myself.

Obvioulsy they think what they are doing is right..Or else they wouldn't be doing it, now would they? I think they like the way they are, or else they would try to convert to "normal". I mean, I have a cuz thats gay..I see nothing wrong with it, well I love him and all...But I don't see how you can do something like that, considering the fact I am not gay.

I am gay and happy being gay. I do not do anything wrong by being gay.

Consider the question, Are you happy being heterosexual, with your race (white, black etc) or would you like to change it? Gay is how I am, why would I want to change it. Do you think you are wrong being straight?

i have numerous homosexual friends, and when criticized, they have learned to just blow it off. i, however, will not tolerate the criticism. i am in no way homosexual, but if they're happy, it's no one else's business, right?

every homosexual relationship i have seen take place has been healthy, and long-lasting. they're completely comfortable being who they are in public, as well.

Some would stop...but most would remain gay. Being gay is not any different than being straight. Would you stop being straight? Some people would. Most also do not think they are wrong.
