The Netherlands cemented its reputation as Europe's most socially liberal country today when a new political party formed by paedophiles was told it could contest this year's general election.

Brotherly Love, Freedom and Diversity party (PNVD) wants to cut the age of consent from 16 to 12 and to legalise child pornography. "The freedom of expression, the freedom of assembly and the freedom of association should be seen as the foundations of the democratic rule of law and the PNVD is also entitled to these freedoms," the court in The Hague said in a statement.

There is nothing in the law that forbids someone to found a party and if you play by the rules you can enter the election. Don't forget that this is a hot topic in Holland at the moment, and I have yet to find the first person with sympathies for this party. They will not be elected into the house of commons. (The party for animal rights has more seats in the polls right now). And I doubt they will have the stamina to keep themselves up for the next election.

This is freedom of expression gone mad. I can't believe that even a land as socially liberal as the Netherlands have allowed this. Children should be protected at all times. However, if there is a country that will be next in having such a political party it definitely wont be the UK - we are far to strict in areas such as age of consent.

They can contest and lose miserably and get kicked out as a political party for failing so dismally.

THIS WILL NEVER EVER happen in the UK. Although, if Islam takes over it might, they don't mind young girls as brides etc. Mohammed the Prophet married a child of 9.. SO as long as they don't get into number 10, we should be ok.

rooster, just shut up. The Hague judges arent molesters, they act in accordance with the laws. In the Law, they havnt done anything wrong. They can say what they want, if their ever found to be Paedophiles then they'll get strict jail sentances.

Otherwise, let them have their sordid party. Its not like its gonna win anything.

There are some limits to free speech and expression. That is over the line. Hopefully the UK won't be next.

there's like a gazillion political parties over here.

I don't think they'll be getting any votes, there's quite a bit of resentment over the court ruling and a lot of discussion going on.
