you know what, you are right my brother. Most of the media in the U.S.A is biased towards a particular group of people, and does not always present the news in an objective manner. It's true that they're reporting on what's happening, and we al know who's doing what, But I noticed too that the CNN journalist seem to be biased towards Israel, trying to get people to sympathise with them, and in the process they forget that the real victims are the Lebanese people. Israel has the right to defend itself, but it does not have the right, absolutely under no circumstance, to use excesive force against a country that has little to defend itself with, and most importantly it does not have the right to attack and kill civilians. The Lebanese people shouldn't have to suffer for the actions of a few extremists.

Sorry friend CNN has truly shown both sides of a bad situation. You Can't blame Israel someone has to defend them for Hezbollah adn it is stupid to think they should stand by and have missles launched at them from Lebanon. It does not matter where a terrorist attacks from if the home country will not or cannot prevent the attacks tha attacked country must still defend itself this is not terrorism it is self defense from terrorism. It is sad tha Lebanon could not prevent the terrorist from using there country to attack another country but Hezbollah has incorporated itself in the government of Lebanon. If terrorist are sllowed to benefit from acts of terrorism than will will never be free from terrorist. Israel is forced to respond and so is every country that is attacked by these thugs.

Israel should ratchet up the bombing and extend it, that is what I really think. You asked. BTW a lot of USA journalists are Jewish, which may or may not surprise you. And a lot of those are liberals, so they have a real dilemma I am personally enjoying at the moment. they don't want to criticize Israel on the one hand, but do want to blame Bush as always on the other. The latter is a little hard to do with a UN veto rammed up thew terrorists asses courtesy of W.
Drop another bomb.

Forgive me for saying this before I address your Q:
You asked a good Q about the role of US journalism and its responsibilities to report and analyze the news and the issues in the situation developing in Lebanon. But you diminished the value of your question by giving biased details indicating you have a biased position. I am not against your having an emotionally based motive behind your Q, but I am against your not trying to get at the root causes behind bad journalism more effectively by being more factual and rational.
That said, I think journalism in the US has been gutted by the corporations who own the news organizations. These corporations have one goal --to operate for profit, and they no longer believe they have any social, cultural,or ethical/moral obligations to objectively provide factual and informative information to the society ,or rather the people of that society, whose rules protecting corporate liberties, individual rights and obligations enable them to exist.
My criticism of journalism and most journalists goes far deeper beyond the quality and depth of coverage of the fight between Hezbollah and the Israeli's in Lebannon to the very flaws in the structure of journalism that depends on money funneled by self-serving, greedy, narrow-minded corporations.
I get my news from anti-establishment sources like KPFT and the Pacifica network. These are non-commercial listener-supported community radio stations. My favorite news and interview program is DemocracyNow.org. I also get my news from the BBC which has always, and NPR, which has recently, shown backbone asking people in authority challenging Q's !

Journalism in the USA is not unbiased.
Just as an example, do you guys remember the CIA guy who harassed Donald Rumsfeld regarding miss information given to the American public about Iraq's WMDs. Couple of days later that guys was interview by FOX NEWS and harassed for harassing Donald Rumsfeld. And than a week later that reporter got a exclusive with the President Bush.
I don't think that the journalism in the US is biased by designed. But it is biased through the system set up by the White House to reward to reward reporters who agree with them by giving them exclusive interviews and better access to the top administration officials.

I think you should try some OBJECTIVITY before pushing your own little agenda. Or at least try to be a bit more subtle in your bias.
