I have a friend from mangalore and he writes his surname as Sriyan or Sriyian ...what is his caste then? Just curious ....

I am not sure but I think he could be a Catholic (Catholic Syrians) He must be a Kerala Christian and have a christian ancestry of more than 1000 years in India
