I'm not American and I don't think it's fair for non Americans to bash all of Americans. I think truly intelligent people understand that not all Americans are alike. I know a lot of people who don't like your government (me included) but to hate the entire nation for a screwed up government is just as screwed up. I think people don't like the arrogant Americans who think they are superior. I have to roll my eyes and laugh every time I come across one of those. But there's tons of awesome Americans who don't deserve to be lumped together with the ignorant ones.

Its the American culture that grates us here in Europe. The way it has infiltrated us and not in a good way. Large American companies have destroyed many local businesses, we cant go round a corner without seeing a Mcdonalds, we cant switch on the TV without hearing American voices. we constantly have it rammed down our necks and it does get annoying. Plus I hate to say it but most Americans I have met or know of are extremely ignorant of how the world actually is, with Bush as a figurehead it promotes the fact they are ignorant. American industrialisation, lack of interest in Kyoto, dog eat dog business world, sue anyone who moves etc. All these things have started to appear in Europe and its a bit rubbish to be honest. Plus American culture, in movies and in film has spread here and its not all good. Plus everyone knows American politics is corrupt and a big joke and its hard to respect people who allow that kind of system. Generally Americans are potrayed as Greedy, self centred, fat war mongering oil burning people. Which in part from where Ims tanding seems true. Im sure there are lots of cool americans out there too, but the problem is if you are proud of your country then you should be looking harder at the problems it has caused.

Unfortunately, these people represent our country-and we're easily viewed as being "1-in-the-same"(?) as far as the rest of the world is concerned...
Recently, I was able to see a little of where some of them have a point after hearing about how the US compares with some other countries in regards to one of these issues: (I don't remember whether it was the issue of how much pollution we're responsible for, or how we are careless & waste natural resources...) But other countries are being more accountable for how they treat our planet & they make better use of alterrnative energy sources. (Overall....they are more resourceful.) (Earth friendly). They drive cars which are smaller overall/don't waste gas. (You would too, if you had to pay what they do for gas. $4.00 & up in some places, and I heard this back before our prices started going up.) And look at what our country is driving-all these people with their SUV's and Hum-V's. Both are "gas-guzzlers"/ "gas-hogs", they treat gasoline like it has a never-ending supply source... That's not true. Once it's gone, that's IT! In the meantime, we shouldn't complain about the price of gas-as the planet's resources get used up, we should expect the price to go up. In this example at least, can you blame the rest of the world for seeing us as greedy & selfish?

I have traveled extensively in other countries, even after the war began and I have been treated wonderfully everywhere I went. I went to France in October of 2002. Everyone I know was telling me how I was going to be treated like dirt and that they (the French) hated Americans. I never had one problem. I never even had to carry my own bags! Every time that I asked someone for directions (everyone I met spoke English! In Europe you rarely meet ANYONE who isn't bilingual) I wasn't given directions, the person I asked took me where I wanted to go.
I always find that people are going to treat you according to the manner in which you treat them and in accordance with the manner in which you approach them. If you start out thinking they are going to be full of anger and hatred then that will color your response to that person which in turn will affect the way they respond to you.

I dont think that many people in the world hate americans, the middle east maybe. Americans are loud though, they think they are the best at everthing and they are not, that might be why, maybe if they weren;t so "we are the greatest" the rest of the world would feel kinder towards them, I am Australian, I like Americans but I think just turn it down a bit,,lol,, anyway we are better swimmers than u guys..lol..Plus we beat ya in the world cup.lol..see, we have a lot in common,,lol,,,

People always hate the one on top. America is the strongest nation on earth so we should expect other nations to be jealous of us.

No matter if we made good decisions or bad we would still be raked over the coals. Blaming Bush is just an excuse.

The rest of the world hated us long before bush took office.

It's impossible to be racist against someone because of where they come from.

"It's impossible to be racist against someone because of where they come from."

English are racist towards the Irish because they are from Ireland.
English are racist towards the French because they come from France.
English are racist towards the Chinese because they come from China.

American's are racist towards the French because they come from France.
American's are racist towards Mexicans because they come from Mexico.

I could go on and on and on...

Meaning of racist

2. (adj.sat.) discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion
3. (adj.sat.) based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks"

No, but when you are the only superpower, you are the 800 pound gorilla and everybody sees you and is afraid you are going to step on and squish them like little ants. Politics of envy.
