I don't think they ever venture out of the Four Corners area of the Southwest, that is, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah.
And no, I don't think I have ever seen one. They are pretty secretive, so if I've seen one I didn't recognize it for what it was. They are not as much 'werewolves' as they are shamans with the ability to shape shift. That is, they willingly effect the change through dark magic.
A person cursed with lycanthrope, on the other hand, is called a 'werewolf.'

Some people I know have had incidents where something was running so fast that it was hard to make it out or else a naked man or woman running along the road late at night.
Those are the brave souls. I would've seen one, but I was too scared to turn around. I could hear its footsteps. I would've ran, but it was so dark that I didn't want to fall. And then I was back inside. I locked the door.
