They are so cute! Little bandits. I heard noises at night nlike someone walkign around onthe side of the building (it's a really werid place for any human to be, I figured someone was up to no good) I shined a flashlight and there they were tons of little eyes on top of the roof next door. (The neighbor probalby wonders what the racket is on their roof everynight) It looked like a little family. Babies and Mom and Papa maybe a cousin or too. So I wondered were the heck can these guys hide in LA. This is a over populated traffic ton that's over built. Were would a raccon livein a city? Not just one a whole family. Amazing little buggers. I'd keep one as a pet if I could catch one but I guess it won't be fair to the animal to live in a little apartment (why is it ok for me to live here than... hmm..)

They are here in Orange County too. They live in the hills, the parks, the golf courses, the military bases, and just about anywhere else there is open space. I've seen them coming out of storm drains too....I think they've figured out how to use the sewer system to travel around town. They sleep during the day, and raid dog food bowls, dumpsters, fruit trees, etc at night.

There is probably a water and food source nearby....They seek refuge there, cause their homes were domolished by humans building. Most of the time when this occurs animals move to greenscapes else where. In your case they choose a roof top....I would not try to pet them because they may have rabies. If you have a wild life shelter in phone book, call and see if they can assist.... Best of Luck.

In urban areas, look for culverts, garages, attics, under tarps covering just about anything.

Be careful, coons are fun to watch and are especially fun when they are little. But they can tear a house apart in minutes if they wish and can carry some really nasty diseases ... like rabies and encephalitis. They can bite the end of your finger off just for fun (I know that first hand! ... less a bit of finger)

I haven't yet. I'm waiting. I'm only 15 in order to have lived the best day of my life, which I think will be when I take in my arms my first child.

Racoons are nocturnal. They generally 'hole' up someplace to sleep during the day.
