You didn't mention what zone you live in, but....You can plant annuals, even perennials now. They should be OK for instant gratification but may not become established well enough to come back for you in spring. Be sure to scarify the roots of anything you plant and give them a good drink of root stimulator. Fertilome makes a good product. And weak solution of fertilizer each time you water to help assure successful growth. I would wait for high ticket shrubs just so the investment of time, effort, and money is not wasted.

You can choose plants that root easily in water so you can take starts for next year keeping them inside for the winter. (New Guinnea Impatiens, Impatiens, verbena, Hibiscus (really), and lots of others.

There are many good gardening shops on line. Parks Seeds, Wayside Gardener, (dot com, of course) and you can do a search for others to order on line from. Good luck. Isn't dirt wonderful?

No, don't wait. There are many plants you can plant right now. Only plant perennials though. The best time to plant is spring and fall. I am waiting for fall so I can plant bulbs. I have planted numerous plants this month. All are doing well, just keep them wet and make sure to break up any root balls. Tulips, crocus, daffodils, hyacinths are great bulbs to plant in the fall. I planted ground cover and many other summer and spring plants. They will do very well next year as long as you plant them right and keep them wet. Visit your local nursery and ask a pro.

I am in Texas and it is too hot to plant in July... I would suggest planting after your last frost (freeze); which means temperatures at night stay above 32. If you want to grow wildflowers from seed plant them in October and water twice a day. Fruit trees and roses can also be planted in the fall as well....

Planting does not have to wait for seasons. Thus, get seedlings and plant them on beautiful spots around your house.
