145/90 isnt that bad...kind of just a warning. Also at any given time your blood pressure can rise...like going to a doctors appt, something you ate....etc etc. You need to take bp 3 times a day for a month or more different times each day...to see if their is a pattern. Higher bp is only a problem if it is continuous. Fluctuations of bp is normal and sometimes it spikes.
Having said that. Reduce salt. And moderate exercise. Walking each day for only 20 minutes can cure a bp problem in some people. If chronically high and lifestyle doesnt cure it then you can take bp meds. But why put yourself through those meds and their side affects IF you have not tried just walking for 20 minutes a day first. Also, anxiety can cause rise in bp and so can other meds.
Continue to follow up with your doctor while trying to make lifestyle changes; take the meds if he says you need them. Get a home bp machine.

Are you on the contraceptive pill? I almost had a stroke at age 27, my blood pressure was so high. Turned out to be on the pill I was taking... once I stopped taking it my blood pressure returned to "almost normal" in the following two weeks.

It could be stress or sensitivity to salt in your diet. If your cholesterol is normal and you have no other risk factors I wouldn't worry too much. Try a low sodium diet and enjoy a relaxing holiday periodically and see if that helps.

90% of the time, there is no cause. it is called idiopathic hypertension and it happens to some of us as we age and our blood vessels just become stiffer. Since you said your blood results are within normal limits, I doubt that it could be any of the secondary causes like renal artery disease, Conn's, or Cushing's.

it is because you are taking lots of salt. cut all the salt intake even from junk food, or things like crsip which contain lots of salt, even preserved food contain salt! Wash the preserved food well before eating them, and going for exercise will help if you are overweight, because you will sweat and you lose salt from your body, taste the sweat it is salty! salt increases blood pressure, in fact who has low blood pressure must increase the salt intake
hope this helps

Genetics? Stress? Do you have parents/siblings with hypertension as well? If so, then it's probably hereditary. I have the same problem.
