Race has nothing to do with it. I would not die for any child that was not mine.

if it was a matter of life or death - an urgent rescue situation, certainly, i'd do what it could to save the child, but i would never use race as the determining factor -- it's the fact that it is a human being. if it was a matter of donating an organ, and it was likely that the operation would kill me - that would depend if my own children were still alive -- i could not abandon my own children in order to save someone else - and then again, race would play no role in that decision. If I could donate an organ, and the odds were less than 50% that I would die, and my children were adults, I would consider it, and only do it if they all agreed with my decision. I would do whatever it took to aid any human, regardless of race under those circumstances.

If need be, yes I would. How could any adult watch a child lose it's life without trying to prevent it?
A little boy came to my parents some years ago. His mother was a nurse and a friend of a younger sister of mine.
We decided to take the children swimming. He went past the markers for safe swimming, although everyone knew the rules. The current was trying to take him, and all his mother Amanda could do was stand and cry.
My sister and I both struck out for him. I reached him first, and almost went under myself trying to angle across with him. With my sister's help, we saved Anton.
I have had deteriorating nerves in my back since 1982, due to damage, which affects my legs somewhat. I did not know I could do it, but I knew I had to try to get him. I was terrified.
Anton was black and had leukemia. He health had become better and he had been promised he could come fish and swim by us. I know , as much as I love my life, I would have to try to save the child.
