Actually, NBA rosters are 14 deep now, because they took out the Injured Reserve position.

With that in mind, my team would look like this:

Starters:

C. Shaquille O'Neal - He's still the most dominant player in the league and with him your team is automatically considered a title contender.

PF: Kevin Garnett - Versatily, he plays at both ends and is unselfish are the keys here. He fits with anyone on the court.

SF. Lebron James - He's a big time scorer who gets others involved.

PG. Jason Kidd - You want a guy who can create offense for others here. Nash does that, too, but Nash doesn't play defense, whereas Kidd is the best one-on-one defender in the league in my opinion.

SG. Ray Allen - Most people would view this as a strange pick when you've got guys like Wade and Kobe out there. However, I'm looking for chemistry here. Kobe doesn't play well with others (or hasn't in the past) and Wade is essentially too similar to Lebron. This starting five lacks a versatile perimeter star who can spread the floor with his outside touch. Allen set the record for threes this past year and though he could improve defensively, he's an exceptional ball handler, tough as nails and shoots the lights out.

Bench:

FC. Tim Duncan - He's one of the smartest, most reliable players in the league at both ends of the floor.

F. Elton Brand - You can always use tough-nosed big men. Brand is an underrated shot blocker, too.

F. Dirk Nowitzki - Another mismatch problem for opposing teams and can help spread the floor with his outside shooting.

F. Andrei Kirilenko - AK-47 is the X factor on the court. He's not a go-to-guy per se, but he can change a game with shotblocking, steals and hustle.

F. Ron Artest - You always need to have a defensive stopper. Artest can defend anyone anywhere.

PG. Steve Nash - With a lineup where everyone wants the ball, you've got to have guys who are willing to get it to them.

G. Allen Iverson - Plays with passion and has shown he can be a scorer or an assist man.

G. Dwayne Wade - His only weaknesses are turnovers and the three point shot.

GF. Paul Pierce - Another physical player who can spread the floor with his shooting.

Remember, this is based on balance as much as it is greatness. I left out guys like Arenas and McGrady not because they're not deserving, but because they don't fit as well in the lineup or balance.
