Poker is all about one thing position, position, and position, it is vital that you only play hands that are good, relative to your position. Also table conditions dictate the way you play hands, as well as the size of your, and other peoples chip stacks. In a loose game i might fold A-J in first position, and in a tighter game i might play it. Also the number of players in against you has to play a key factor in your game. There is no one way to play poker it is all situational to be sure, remembering how opponents have played you in the past is a big help, because we are all creatures of habit and we repeat the same patterns over and over.
