I may be a hopeless optimistic but I tend to think that a terror-free world is possible. We must first understand why terrorists do what they do. It is to achieve a goal, and they are usually acting out of frustration with someone or a situation. I believe terrorism is an act of desperation on the part of the terrorists. If we can understand what is propelling these people to do such drastic acts and find a solution that everyone can live with, then perhaps terrorism will cease. It won't happen overnight.

No, you are all wrong. Terror can not thrive when people are free. The approach that the Bush administration has used in Afghanistan and Iran is the only method that will work in the long run.

We must stand up to the terrorists, remove them from power and replace their regimes with democracies. The people in Iran, Syria and Lebanon are all fed up with the governments that control these counties. They will welcome the chance to have the freedom that Afghanistan and Iraq now enjoy.

Even in Iraq where there are competing factions, they are learning to live together with a representative democratic government. The Iraqis are having no problem recruiting troupes to fight the insurgents.
