I don't know about _BEST_, but I use TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org). It works for me, and allows me to create hidden encrypted partitions within an encrypted partition, this feature is very useful. Of course, there are problems that effect the security of all encryption products. For instance, if the program stores the password in memory (most do), if that password is put into virtual memory, it is written to your hard drive, and someone with experience can retrieve the password. Of course, it depends on who you're hiding information from ;)
