I'm Indonesian. I live in WEst Java, but for this week I am taking a trip to Sumatra, so I was extremly scared to hear that there was an earth quake(and tsunami) in my home place(6.8!), I couldnt watch TV(my hotel isnt exactly a glamorous one), so when my Friends called me telling me about the news I really panicked, calling everyone I know, checking whether there are fine or not. my question is, do you, non Indonesia people care about any of this? I cant help wondering, how evil nature can be to us sometimes, but how can people still do war, if there are actually people out there dying of natural causes?(not just the tsunami, earth quakes, volcanos erupting, AIDS, poverty, etc) how can they even think of killing other people with so much in this world going on to be fixed?

by the way, I am now in Aceh, and I must tell you that what happened here, almost 1 and half years ago can still be seen everywhere, houses might have been built, but think of all the life that was here before the tsunami? it's not that easy to be fixed! I came to this area one day, on its wall was written: population before, 2, 835 people. population after 245. children left without parents 46. you know how sad that is?

I have no idea. I sometimes think that this is what kind of world you get when nothing but men run it... they run it straight into wars and fighting.

You are exactly right. How can people be thinking about nothing else but killing each other and spending billions of dollars to do that when so many ppl are hungry, sick, and impoversed all over the world. Honey, I can't answer that for you. I wish I could but it is something I don't understand either.

I am still thinking about the last tsunami and I live in Canada. No wonder you were uptight it is very understandable that would be very frightening. I am glad you and your friends are ok. Natural disasters are always going to be a part of our world,WAR is such a waste it takes away people and money that could be used for much more humanitarian needs, more earth friendly honorable directions. ~WAR is UNNATURAL~
I wish I had a answer to the why of it all , but I have none. Take care ,~A~

I care, though at this point of my life there is not much I can do. I was really upset by the news that there was an earthquake+tsunami again :((

And I have no idea how people can be such... I don't know a bad enough word... to keep attacking each other when there is so much that needs to and can be fixed, if that destructive energy is poured in the right direction...

There is nothing any one can do about natural disaster prevention for now. We can only learn how to manage it when it stroke, Predict it before it stroke or aid it in the after mart of it strike.
So on a positive note, wars symbolizes the failure of man kind to reason effectively and understand one another.
The world needs to show more love and friendship to fellow humans irrespective of race religion or ethnicity.
I am certain that with much love and affection on humanity. Natural disasters will elude, subside and forgotten.
Global warming will be scraped, nuclear weaponry will be destroyed. And green peace will flourish. so if we prevent the atmosphere from dyeing so will it stop us from dyeing of natural disasters.
How do we achieve that, through better understanding.

i comprehend it ought to sound impossible to proceed to exist yet no one will proceed to be nevertheless waiting for dying to return. i might run away, i do no longer care if I die in the long-term yet i might atleast attempt to flee as much as available.
