Mine is my mother, because she is strong, and has never given up on me or my 4 sisters, no matter how many times we've let her down. She has survived horrible things, has seen the best and worst in humanity and is a better person for it. She will always impress me, and she is my definition of heroism. Even though she drives me nuts sometimes (she IS my mum), she is the one person I strive to be like.

Aung San Su Kyi. Voted into the presidency of Burma on a landslide of popularity, she's a bright beacon of light in the sea of anguish that is Burma today. She is a reason for living for millions of oppressed Burmese people trodden down by an evil self- serving military junta. She has stayed in Burma to serve the people at the cost of her own freedom. She is my hero.

My late husband. He was a brilliant, talented, kind and gentle man. Everyone who met him all over the world liked him instantly. He could talk with anyone; everyone trusted him -- and for good reason. He was a loving father to his sons, a respectful son to his parents. He had his faults as all folk do, but many peolple in many countires cried when he died. I could only hope to be remembered as he is. Colin Powell called him a true ambassador for America.

My mom is also my hero, for all the same reasons that youve stated. Except the 4 sisters part. Its just me and my bro. Our mom is an angel from heaven , and I would be proud to be anything like her.
