OH! THE BEATLES! They changed the world as we know it today!

NO ONE EVER had the entire planet at their feet, like The Beatles did.

They were considered BEYOND idols. They were deified! Even by Queen Elizabeth.
History has never seen anything come close as to the overwhelming popularity of the Beatles. Record numbers of mobs of people by the THOUSANDS chasing them, EVERYWHERE!

People would go to GREAT lengths to buy a peice of grass, they had stepped on or an object, they had touched. They would pay hundreds and even thousands of dollars for a glass that one of them had taken a sip from.

Cassius Clay, now known as Mohammad Ali never had a mob chasing after him ever. Whoever told you that, is misinformed. There is no comparison. He wasn't all that big. He had a lot of fans but not on any grand scale like The Beatles. Not even close.

He was a boxer. Only people who liked boxing were interested in him.

The Beatles cannot be topped. In ANY arena!

Not even today. No one has ever even come close.

I don't think you can compare them. I mean, the Beatles were HUGE and still are to an extent, as is Muhammad Ali, but comparing them is just plain impossible, since they are known for things that aren't related. It would be easier to compare the Beatles and Elvis or Ali and some other boxer, but since you're comparing people from two different fields entirely, comparisons will fall down after a while.

Now, having said that, if you're asking for a literal comparision, I'd have to say that the Beatles were bigger--mass/volume wise, since there were actually four of them and there was only ONE Muhammad Ali.

On the softness & soothing - The Beatles : for music.

On the tough & manly side - Classius Clay :for Boxing.

Both are equally big in their respective feilds.
