Indian villages have not changed from the time britishers were here and after they left.
basically there are 4 main reasons i can see for xtreme poverty in indian villages:
1. EDUCATION
2.CATIPAL INVESTMENT
3.OTHODUX AND TRADITIONAL LIFE STyLE
4.POLITITIANS
5.NO SUPPORT FROM RICH CLASS
EDUCATION is the basic necessity of ppl in todays world . present market demands for educated and literate ppl. this demand is not full filled by villagers.NO education is the root cause of all problems
CAPITAL investment after rural development is almost nill .central and state govt are concentrating in the development of the major cities and so the citites are progressing at a very fast rate .but less importance is given to the development of villages.villages lack very basic necessities .still women in many states have ot travel from one village in search of water , doctor etc.electricity is like ID KA CHAND which is rarely seen .VILLAGE ECONOMY IS STILL VERY MUCH DEPENDENT ON OLD ORTHODUX thinking like beliving in KARMA and other such concepts makes ppl lathergic and ppl r not willin to fight against the bad situtatios they are facing . if they dont have water to drink they will say tat it is due to our bad karmas in past.moreover women education has no importance
Rich class in india contribute in earthquakes, flood etc but the regular help need from them in not available .not only in terms of money but also in form of skilled magaement and organisations.i fear that the huge wealth difference between the rich and poor class will increase and can cause a revolution

It is a myth that all Indian villages are poor and dying of hunger. There are some of the villages which are setting up an example for a rural development model. One of such examples could be Ralegaon Siddhi (Anna Hazare's village).

The extreme poverty in some indian villages is because they were not educated properly. There are no development work taking place there. There are no industries near by those villages.Mainly they are poor due to illitracy and no proper income.
