Hmm...well, my favourite French singer is Emilie Simon. She's sings electronica/pop like kind of music.

Hector Berlioz, Charles Gounod, Jacques Offenbach, Camille Saint-Saëns, Georges Bizet, Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and my personal favorite, Jules Massenet.

Most of them are opera composers, but there are some others as well.

Une Colombe by Celine Dion ( we were forced to listen to and sing it back in grade 3, pretty song) and Victime de la mode-don't know the artist (again was forced to hear it at school, this time 12th grade)
