Same-sexed marriages are just as bad for society as Man/Woman marriages. Marriage can not be viewed as a sacrament of religion, or the divorce rate would be significantly lower, Las Vegas wouldnt have 24 hour chapels, etc.
As for the 2 men marrying increasing AIDS, that is a stereotype that the American Red Cross has perpetuated and tried to keep running. For this reason, the ARC is in a continuous shortage of blood, because they discriminate against these donors. Blood must be tested prior to being used, so this rejection only hurts them in the long run.
Children deserve to be in a loving home, and shouldn't matter whom the parents are, if they are being cared and nurtured. Being in a home with either type of families (str8 or gay) is alot better than being in a state or private ran institution which robs children of a proper childhood.
I think gay couples have the same rights as straight couples on benefits. They should be able to see loved ones in the hospital, have health care. As for taxes, the income is combined and you pay what is called the "marriage tax" so therefore, conservitives are hurting themselves by not allowing it, because they are not getting the tax dollars from a combined household, even though the couples are living together as a married couple and reaping the tax benifits of being single.

Allowing homosexual marriages, or any marriage for that matter, will actually reduce the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases because marriage encourages fidelity in both parties. Those that have no intention of fidelity usually have no intention of marriage.
Yes, married people do get certain benefits and even though I pay the same taxes that go toward these benefits, I am not entitled to any of them because I am a homosexual man. Is this fair?
Why would gay marriage take away from straight marriage? I have no intention of trying to ban opposite-sex marriages and heterosexuals aren't going to get married to someone of the same sex so I don't really see the issue here.
What would be confusing to the child about having two loving parents? In fact, I thing that some children raised by same-sex couples will actually be better able to deal with the diversity and pressures of life. If the children are being made fun of, shouldn't we punish those who are teasing them? What form of logic says that if a child is teased in school, it means the parents are unfit to raise the child?
Same sex marriage is no more bad for society than opposite-sex marriage.

2 men marrying would NOT increase AIDS -- AIDS does not appear spontaneously. It is a virus -- it is spread through most of the world primarily heterosexually. Americans should be glad it came here via a vector that initially infected gay men -- otherwise we would have had 10 times the deaths to date. In Africa, where it is primarily straight, there are countries where there is a 33% infection rate -- unthinkable here. In any event, monogamy helps prevent HIV from spreading, so far from increasing AIDS it would decrease AIDS.
As for it taking away from straight marriage -- how? None of our straight friends think it would lessen what they have if we got it too. I don't understand the mentality that says it would. I think its just a way to get people to oppose gay marriage, and I think the prejudice people will use anything.
As for confusing children. I raised two boys -- neither of them was ever the least confused. Both are straight, that's what their genetics decried, that's what they are -- but they are a lot happier than they would have been if they hadn't been taken out of abusive homes. Furthermore, our house was where ALL their friends always were -- for years I couldn't come home without a horde of kids, and I never knew in advance how many I was cooking for.
I suspect you have been fed a bunch of lines that are supposed to keep you anti-gay marriage. The lines you are repeating though -- simply don't cut it. They are false or overstated, in every case.

Reynolds

I think it would excellent for society. There would be so many children are neglected, abused, and abandoned that could end up in loving homes (because as gay people, we can love too), where they get the support and attention they need to become civil human beings. Society is messed up because of bad home life. Parents are either working too much, not attentive enough, don't care enough or don't love unconditionally. With that said, children who come from environments like that will end up on drugs, gangs, stealing, committing heinous crimes, and as society all can be prevented if we just come to terms with the fact that as long as two people are raising a child who care enough to do so, then society would be a better place all together. And by the way gay people are not the majority of people who have AIDS!

In the first place two men marrying will not increase AIDS. Its not as if they aren't having sex already. The point in gay marriage is that gay couples SHOULD get the same benefits straight couples get. Gay couples are already raising children that is nothing new and most do a fine job of it and probably raise better adjusted children that straight couples that are married and divorced 3 or 4 times while their children grow up. So in short NO same sex marriage will not be bad for society nor will it destroy the moral fiber of the nation.

I say if two people love eachother enough that they want to spend their lives togeather then thats their choice.
Yeah you can have your opinion about it but its not your life. As for the gay couples adopting children and people wonder if its the right thing to do, well I think its a wonderful thing! Two loving people want to raise a child just like everyone else. Would you prefer that the child go into foster homes and get moved around all the time?
How would you like to be told that you couldn't marry the one person you loved so much in this world just because people didn't want to see that sort of thing? Gay people aren't the problem with this world. Hateful nieve people are.
By the way, Aids doesn't get spread by gays alone, its anyone and everyone having unprotected sex that cause the spread of Aids and other harmful diseases.

Just because two people of the same sex is marrying does not mean that the AIDS epedemic will rise. Having unprotected sex does and not getting tested will too. No, why should they take away marriage between a man and a woman. It should be legal just as homosexual marriages. I think that if we raise our children up to be open minded individuals then there should be no room for ignorance and belittlement. Homosexual marriages will not damper the lives of the children that lives in it. Heterosexual marriages are just as prone to failure just as homosexual ones. It doesnt matter who they're parents are married to, but the individuals that come from it.

What an ignorant and sad question.
I must assume you are very young and are just repeating what you have heard ignorant adults saying.
Two men in a monogamous relationship, even if they have AIDS, will not be spreading AIDS. The spread of AIDS requires people who don't have HIV to have unprotected sex with somebody who does. It does not spontaneously appear when a penis is inserted into a rectum. Lesbians are the least likely to contract AIDS and the least likely to spread it. How will homosexual marriage increase the spread of AIDS?
Diabetes is a terrible disease. It is often made worse by obesity and bad diets. People with diabetes can and do pass this disease on to their children... then teach them terrible eating habits as well. Fat parents are often the subject of ridicule by school age children. Fat kids are also often the subject of ridicule. This ridicule often destroys the self esteem of the children.
Do you think because diabetes is a terrible disease... that is often inherited, that people with diabetes should not be allowed to get married or raise children?
Do you see the idiocy of your position? You are using these arguments to back up your bigotry and hatred... or as this case might be, the bigotry and hatred of people you heard use these tired and deplorable excuses for discrimination.

From a scientific standpoint, it is both normal and becoming more common. There are about 115 males born to every 100 females so this surplus will seek gratification either through gay sex, incest, or adultery and of the three gay sex seems best. Does it affect society? As long as the sexual activities do not affect the community or children, it is the same as heterosexual conduct. Will HIV become rampant? Likely it will decrease as more one to one relationships are formed. We might think of gays as being a natural means to curb the population explosion and once the stigma of being gay is removed, we might actually a decline in birth rate. Some cultures believe in marriage and child-bearing as necessary and the population as in India swells. Is it needed or only a social duty.

No. What would happen is nothing. People may lauph a little, perhaps go as far as keeping their distance from them. It may show better parenting.
I am not gay, but I understand. There may be some complications between same sex and straight sex; there would be power there which can easily be abused. We can create a criteria of love, then again that could create controversy as well. So, I would say it is best not to have gay marriages.
