Were you going up a hill by any chance? Because the power for ac comes from the engine (and therefore uses up extra petrol/gas), if you're going up a hill, the extra power needed has to come from somewhere, you usually notice that the engine seems really zapped of power and the car doesn't go that fast, but maybe in your case, the ac was zapped of power?

If the hoses are fine then check out the pulley that runs the AC

damn you ppl and ur lancers. is it an evo? those things come stock with more than most cars tuned up.

i'm not much of a mechanic, so i'll just say, check your hoses
