You weren't stupid, just nervous! You were probably concentrating on avoiding major mistakes, and missed the little 'routine' things. Next time you go for the test, just take extra care that the handbrake is always fully pushed down, when not engaged. And don't worry too much about it, otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy! Good luck.

you're not stupid... that's a mistake even experienced drivers make. I still do that sometimes too, and I've been driving for like three years. To be honest, that shouldn't have been grounds for failing the test... you probably had a strict proctor. Unless you made many mistakes.

First of all, just because you forget an important thing like the hand/emergency & parking brake, doesn't make you a "stupid" person...even though it was at a time when you would have rather NOT forgotten to release it. We are all "forgetful" at times...even in times when, like you, it's an important time in which you would hope NOT to forget. Take at EASY on yourself!!...because even if you made a LOT of mistakes and had to take the test all over again, you CAN take it over again (and again and again and again)...until you finally succeed! We all make mistakes...but THAT doesn't make you "stupid"...so lighten-up on yourself. You'll discover that things go easier if you take it easy on yourself.

I wouldnt worry. When I went for my test I couldnt even get into the car cos I was so nervous. I set the alarm off and didnt know how to turn it off. The examiner had to sort it out for me...so no........ur not stupid. When ur nervous its hard to think rationally about anything.
Examiners are used to this kind of thing cos they know that most people are gonna be nervous & make silly mistakes.

No, you're still learning, Like I said in your other Question, I've done it. You just need to remember to relax and take your time. I'll bet your instructor's seen far far worse things done during lessons and tests. You won't do it again as you were so embarrassed the first time. You'll have learnt from your mistake. Try again. You won't regret it.
Good luck!!

You're not stupid, but it is a stupid mistake. You're certainly not the first to make it, and probably won't be the last.
Keep practicing, get comfortable, relax while you drive, run errands for/with your parents, then go back for a 2nd test.

Believe me, people taking driving tests do MUCH more stupid things than that all the time. Get a bit more practice to get your confidence back and then go for it. Just remember that developing driving skills is a lifelong process - it doesn't end when you pass your test!
Good luck :-)

No its just a minor mistake. What happens is that the car wont be able to move-granted it will move forced and feel like its stuck. Dont worry when I did my first test I couldn't find the window defroster and got marked down for that, and no your not.
