why can t i hear a sound from my computer besides my tv tunner?

Your computer has a sound card.It could be that it has gone bad,and you need to replace it.Very easy to do,but you have to earth (ground) yourself while doing this.You have to turn off your computer and unplug iteven while it's turn off you still have to ground yourself to change it out.Where rubber gloves and stand on a peice of plastic or vynyl floor mat and take out the old one and replace it with the new one.The new will look like the old one,as far as the hook ups in the back.After you've change it out install the software that came with the new one and there you go.

Sounds stupid, but did you check that the Audio playback volume is all the way up on all catagories? double click the Speaker icon on the task bar (bottom Right)

if that is fine, try this:

Control Panel> Sounds, Speach, and Audio Devices> click on Sounds and Audio Devices Properties> click the Audio Tab> make sure that Audio PlayBack is set to your Sound Card.
