Physics and engineering - anything to get in the airforce really - and then the elite are chosen. You need to be really fit and healthy and then also have something to contribute on a mission.

Astronauts don't live on the moon... They visited a few times only.

Living on the moon may be very hazardous, and short lived too...

Most astronauts were chosen in times of peace on Earth for these missions. The cost is too high and when in time of war,
the federal budget is deviated towards army at war, not to army
in space....

You may have to establish peace on Earth again before ever
going to the moon...

One thing is for sure, you can never afford this travel on your own, so you have to be connected with NASA or the NAVY...

If you have a perfect health, and some knowlege of mechanics,
physics, astronomy, chemistry, an all other sciences like biology,
survival training, etc... you may be chosen if you are still young
an alive after studying so much...

Than again, the closest other place to live would be in a desert,
but you would feel the gravity on Earth, and you would find several creatures, you may consider being from outer space but
living in the desert too...

Think of it this way, how many chances have you got to become
president of the United States...one... multiply by 100 or so...,
or, if you go in the Navy, how many chances have you got to NOT
go to war... , to not be killed..., to be chosen as an ELITE, and
to have a MOON mission at the time...

Astronauts are not a common working force... There is no opening in the field... It's like saying that you want to become
an Einstein or a Thomas Edison... It does not come automatic
even if you study 30 years... You have to be a certain height,
a certain weight, perfect vision and health...

You may be heading for a lifetime of disapointments... Better have a second option...

Good luck anyway..

I'm pretty sure you have to have been an air force pilot to even be considered..other than that, you would have to study something that would be use full to them in a space mission
