Have you tried seeing a chiropractor?

Contrary to popular belief, chiropractic deals with more than just "neck and back pain." Chiropractic is founded in the belief that the Central Nervous System (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) controls EVERY bodily function. A misalignment of the vertebrae (what chiropractic calls a subluxation) can pinch the nerves running out between them, causing pain, numbness/tingling, or any type of general malfunction in that nerve's corresponding body part. I used to work in a chiropractic office and saw how it helped many people with chronic migraine headaches and sinus headaches. This might be a more suitable solution to your problem since you are breastfeeding and, as the mother of young children, always on the go.

Chiropractic is safe, non-invasive, won't take up too much of your time (except for the first appointment which will include an examine and x-rays) and won't have an impact on your breast milk.

If you do decide to see a chiropractor, it would be in your best interest to ask family and friends for recommendations, visit a few offices and pick the doctor that you are most comfortable with. No matter what you decide to do, I sincerely hope that things improve for you.

Try a migraine diet. It worked for my son. I don't remember everything, but your doctor can give you a complete list of foods to avoid. What I remember is avoid or eliminate processed meats (bacon, cured meats and hard salami, etc.) and alcohol (red wine) or any other foods and beverages that contain nitrates, all caffine (including chocolate) and aged cheeses.
When experiencing migraines complete darkness, quiet, and a cold towel over the eyes and sleeping it off helped his symptoms, including the nausea. This usually took a couple of hours.
With 3 babies I know this may not be an option, but hopefully someone can tend to them and give you the necessary down time you need during a migraine.
See your doctor! Migraines are serious business and a thorough check up is important.

The herb feverfew has been used for headaches since at least the 17th century when Nicolas Culpeper wrote, 'It is very effectual for all pains in the head.' It had fallen into some disuse, except among professional herbalists, but has recently come back into favour - with at least two double blind clinical trials proving its effectiveness for migraines. Feverfew has been found to reduce both the frequency and the severity of migraines even when taken on its own, although most herbalists usually combine it with other herbs to improve overall effects. Sufferers should take the equivalent of 125mg of dried herb daily for at least three months. Tonics for the liver and digestive tract are central to the herbal treatment of migraines. Bitter herbs such as centaury will stimulate the digestion so that less of the offending substances reach the bloodstream. Liver herbs like dandelion root or vervain will promote the work of the liver in removing toxins. Stress is important in most cases of migraine. For these people, the calming herbs such as skullcap, wood betony, and perhaps kava kava will help to ease the tension that is promoting migraines. These should be taken throughout the week, like the feverfew, not just at the time of the headache. Other herbs are useful taken during or at the start of a migraine to reduce the pain and return the bloodvessels to a normal size. Those people who are aware of an aura before the migraine may be able to stop it coming on by using a blend of cramp bark (to quickly release blood vessel constriction), valerian (a muscle relaxant and painkiller) and feverfew. These may be taken as tablets, tinctures or teas, always following the label's instructions on dosage. Lavender essential oil should be massaged into the temples at the first sign of an attack. Once the full-blown migraine begins, valerian on its own may still be helpful, as may feverfew. Jamaican dogwood is a more powerful analgesic, specifically used for pains in the head, but as it can be toxic in large doses, it should only be used under the guidance of a professional herbalist. Peppermint essential oil or tiger balm massaged into the temples at this stage will ease the pain. The different triggers of migraines seem to work together, so it is rare to come across someone with a single cause. Therefore you will need to take a holistic approach to treatment, and if you have severe symptoms seek a consultation with a professional herbalist.

Hi! I agree with the food list to stay away from, and I would like to add that putting a little Lavender essential oil on your temples does wonders for migraines. A cold cloth across the back of your neck also helps.
Once you are not breast feeding anymore, Feverfew is a specific herb for migraines - I give it to my boys (6 and 9) for head problems, and it works within 5 minutes. I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions. Good luck!

Forget all tablets to begin with as some of the painkillers can in some people make the migraine and headache worse like those containing codeine and caffeine. You have to find out what courses your migraine. The lack of water is one example. Lack of sleep another. The way of living can trig the migraine et cetera. Some food do trig migraine in some people. Forget about TV and such things, and relax and take it easy until you have found out what is wrong in your lifestyle. In a Neurology book you can find some answers to your problems, it goes to far to answer your question here.

OK, I'll tell you a solution:

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of the body is simply amazing - own experience and that of many friends, also with severe migraines. :-)

And it's really worth travelling far - at present, the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing about 200 Dollars. Good luck!

The link given is only to let you find out the addresses nearest to you.

Will it away. It sounds crazy, but as soon as my vision starts to go, I try and will it away. Instead of going "Oh sh*t I'm getting a migraine, I just try and act like everything is fine and that there is no migraine and there is not going to be a migraine. It never completely gets rid of it, but it does lessen the severity of it extremely. You be surprised at the power of the human mind. Sounds crazy, but you should try it. It's natural and it's free.

Sorry to hear you're having migraines! A couple of my friends have suffered from migraines, too. Dietary modifications seem to help prevent the symptoms, although not completely. Foods to consider avoiding include: lunchmeat, apples, smelly cheese, and alcohol.

Dark room and a cold pack on the back of your neck with your head tilted forward.

You could also try the pressure point on your hand. It has worked for me a few times.

Hold your left hand out in front of you with your thumb and index finger making a backwards "C" shape.

Now in the middle of your two nuckles get your other hand and pinch you skin together (i.e. your right hand thumb on the outside where you can see it and you right hand index finger on the inside of your hand).

Hold it tight and in a few minutes you should start to feel a little relief.

I know it sounds stupid and I hope I have explained it properly because it has worked for me.

Good luck and if all else fails give you kids a hug.

For one, DONT SMOKE, cut out caffine drinks outa your diet. Also, some headaches are caused by aggitation of uptake receptors in your brain. If this is what is causing your headachs, a towel soaked in white vinager applyed to the scalp and head for about 30 min, should cure it compleatly. Its worth a shot anyway if nothing else works. My Anatomy teacher recomended it......
