Little Red House at East Coast is good. Just hail a cab, tell the cab driver to drive you to seafood restaurants at East Coast. The chilli crab, black pepper crab, sambal sotong and lobster are good stuff.
If you want the western cooked seafood, Fish & Co serves pan-fried seafood. Grilled fish with fries. Young Singaporeans like it. Fish & Co at Glass House is very nice. Take a train to Doby Ghaut station (North-east line), and look for Park Mall. Erm, but its not the typical Singaporean seafood you are looking for though.
If you want variety, go to Newton. They offer a large variety of seafood there. Stingray is a must to order. You can take a train to Newton station, or just hail a cab again.

I've heard that Jumbo Seafood is good. They have an outlet at Riverwalk and another at East Coast Food Seafood Centre. Complete list of their outlets can be found here: http://www.jumboseafood.com.sg
They've good Chilli Crab, Pepper Crab and Scallops in a Yam Ring.
The other one that's pretty good is No Signboard Restaurant. They've one at The Esplanade, National Stadium, East Coast and Geylang. Check them out here: http://nosignboard.com.sg/
They make a great White Pepper Crab dish.

Try Jumbo seafood. They have a number of outlets. But I find the one at east coast the best (in terms of food taste). Besides eating near the sea provides nice ambience as well. Getting there is a bit difficult if you do not drive. The easiest is to take a taxi there.
Must try - chili crab and pepper crab. For the chili crab remember to ask for the buns (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside).

my recommendation: both have outlets in east coast seafood centre. it's a chilling place to dine there, while the gentle sea breeze sweeps in. both are popular for chilli & black pepper crabs.
after dinner, you may want to stroll along the beach...
take a cab there...
