CPU temps vary by manufacturer and model. A Pentium D processor with the supplied heatsink and fan should be between 40-55 C at idle. An Atlhon 64 X2 will run between 30-45 C at idle. It will also depend on the ambient temperature of the room the computer is located. Temperatures will be higher in a warm room than in a cool room. Also take into consideration that many software reporting tools, including the BIOS setup screen on most motherboards, can be off by as much as +/- 20c. If you are not comfortable with the temperatures your processor is running at then you may want to look into aftermarket cooling solutions that perform much better than manufacturer supplied coolers. Note however, than many times, the manufacturer of your processor wil not honor the warranty if you don't use the cooling solution provided by them.

I would say 154 degrees Fahrenheit is warmish hot for a CPU. Mine is at 130 right now and is pretty warm. Running a lot of programs at once will indeed make your CPU work a lot harder. Also, since the laptop is on your lap, it may not be getting the airflow it needs to cool the CPU down. In that case, put it on a flat surface, like a tabletop.

I don't remember exactly, is 805 the latest processor? If yes then average temperature should be around 45-60. If it's not the latest version, averege temperatures should be down by 5 degrees celsious.

100 degrees farenheight is fine for most processors, if you've overclocked it, it's more of a problem, but you could probably get that temperature down to about 70 if you tried really hard with fans and/or water cooling. The one I have in my machine runs at a max temp of 100 degrees farenheight (right now, it's sitting at 30 degrees celcius)

Just looked down at the little eye (PC Protect) in my tool bar and I am running at 53c at the moment. But I have been on here for several hours and it's hot in here tonight. Normally I run around 45 to 50 c.

The maximum it should go to is around 85(it MUST shut down at this temperature or you will sit with a burnt piece of plastic). I think the average should be between 40 and 50.
