I don't believe it's just black people who are upset about the Mexican issues. But, we do speak our minds..
We are not afraid to say what's what..
We have been trained from years of persecution, racist thoughts and attitudes that come from a time, and not all that long ago, of Fighting for every right we have today. We've come a long way, but there's more work to be done too.
And, we are a colorful race, that's just our way..
We earned our rights, fought long and hard to get where we are today. And, we are still under a micro scope yet today.
When we see Mexican, or any race that are just,"let" in, and the country turns their heads, or tries to make right, their wrong, we get angry.
How long it took us to win our freedom, and we didn't want to be here in the first place, at least not the way we got here, we were forced by slave buyers, and owners.
Then when we were "set" free, we had nothing, we couldn't even go to school, or vote, or just be left alone to raise our families, and such..
So, That's why we rise up as we do..
That's the way I see it anyway..
Any of my sisters and brothers of color agree ?

Cultures do not separate. Insecure people separate. Hate is an irrational fear. It really says something about the person expressing it. I mean...I hate spiders. However, if there were no spiders, fleas, flies, and all sorts of critters would be next on my list. So sure, some blacks hate mexicans. But, that doesn't mean anything. I would find a source for statistics. You may find it is more of a role that is imposed rather than a hard fact. Maybe what could be said is, "Why does TV portrait the role of black as one that hates Mexicans?" Show proof by citing examples, etc.

There's racial tension among all groups, but is it a generalisation that blacks hate latinos? I don't think so. I've seen plenty of mixed couples here, but I am in southern california.

To allie: congratulations, you are a racist! Please sterilise yourself, people like you make the rest of the world hate amerika.

To paula b: The Mexicans weren't "just let in." You do realise that the majority of the Southwestern United States belonged to Mexico? They've been here all along. Mexicans were used as slaves by the Spaniards. They too had to overcome. Mexicans fought a civil war, an invasion, and America. Mexicans have struggled as African Americans, just not always in America. Hey guess what? Mexico outlawed slavery before America. Mexicans have fought hard for their rights to be treated as people as well.

I see a lot of politiacally correct answers and I know higher thinking individuals have different opinions. But, I am neither black nor mexicans and there is a lot of competition between the two groups. From the men, I have heard nothing positive and a lot of negative from both sides.

I think that we cannot gloss over real problems and there still is a problem here. It was a good question and I think that the real answer is that yes, among racist people, many blacks do hate Mexicans.

Wow, I hope not! I work in a minority program full of black and Mexican people, and everyone seems to get along. I realize that that is only one little microcosm, and I haven't been around that much. I know there are situations where people just group themselves together, whether by race, religion, or whatever, and it ends up being one group against another. I think that in the case of the SoCal prison where they separated the black and Mexican inmates, it was a good action to take, just to reduce tension and keep people from hurting each other. Who can blame people for crossing the border to try to make a better life for themselves and their families? Many of the jobs the illegal immigrants scramble to get now were the jobs done by black slaves in earlier times.

I don't hate mexicans and I'm black! I just think that they (illegal mexicans) aren't being fair to the ones who worked hard to get in the country the right way. Then they wanna talk about them not getting fair civil rights yet they wave the MEXICAN flag all over the place. You want to show you want AMERICAN rights, wave the AMERICAN flag. And about Spanish, I want to learn it because I know if I were in a Spanish-speaking country, it would offend them if I was like "You speak English to me cuz I'm not speaking Spanish." That's just how Americans feel when Mexicans come here and refuse to learn English. "I'm not speaking English with you Americans, I'll speak my language." You're not just talking with other Hispanics in America, you're talking to ALL Americans. And why get mad when they said English would be the national language? The goverment's not saying "Get rid of Spanish" just "English is the most spoken so it's now the national language because Spanish is the second most spoken" Other countries have done a national language without any problems so why can't we? But shoot, I'd date a Mexican boy!! I love 'em and think alot of them are sexy!

I'm black and I don't hate Mexicans or any race that that the media stirs up stupid narrow-minded people about.

You can read my answers to question about Mexicans. I may be one of their most prolific supporters. I say let them all in - European illegal are not harassed, they are signed up for 'free' programs at the airport!!

I will not do to others what has been done to my people. I know what the daily pain feels like and I would not subject a dog to it.

I would like white to experience what they have perpetrated on others. I think it is the only way to get you people to see what you have done in this world.

You always seem to need someone to hate.

One can't judge a book by its cover; and neither should anyone judge another's citizenship in American by the same means. The Afro-American who made the remark could have been speaking about a fellow Mexican-American citizen. To answer your question; I'm Black and I don't hate Mexicans.

Blacks r upset about the problem with immigration just as much as everyone else.I dont agree with paula b. about us being more outspoken about it.I've havent actually seen that many black leaders or any other blacks"speaking out" about it,let alone doing it more than anyone else.
